Interview:

Good morning, Antonio! It's a pleasure to have you here with us today. First of all, congratulations on the awards you received in Venice and Florence. How did these recognitions make you feel?

Antonio Marzo: Thank you so much! I am extremely grateful and honored by these important awards. They demonstrate my commitment and dedication to exploring the potential of art and communicating profound emotions through my work. They represent validation of the artistic path I have undertaken and encourage me to continue exploring new creative horizons.

We can certainly say you've reached a remarkable level of technical maturity. What contribution do you hope to make to the contemporary art scene with your unique style?

Antonio Marzo: I believe my art is a fusion of tradition and experimentation. I enjoy exploring different techniques and materials, but always with a strong foundation, acquired over time and transformed into a technique. My goal is to create works that are recognizably mine, with a distinctive visual language. I hope that through my art I can convey a sense of beauty, introspection, and connection with the world around us.

Speaking of recognizable works, could you share with us some of your most significant works?

Antonio Marzo: Absolutely! Among the works that have left an impact on me is "Mani d'Artista," a painting that represents the very act of artistic creation, the connection between the artist and the work itself. Then there's "Le Paranze," a work that captures the essence and energy of the sea, a representation of the bond between man and nature. Finally, I can't fail to mention "Santu Lazzaru (traditions)," a loving tribute to my father, a man with a great passion for music and art in general. These works are just a few of the many I've created over the years, each with its own story and meaning.

It's fascinating to learn the context and meaning of these works. Now, I'd like to hear your opinion on a timely topic: artificial intelligence and the new digital artistic trends that are invading the global art scene. What are your thoughts?

work by Angelo Antonio March Antonio Marzo: It's an interesting topic. Artificial intelligence and new forms of digital expression are certainly changing the way we conceive of art. Personally, I think every form of artistic expression, whether traditional or digital, has its value and its place in the artistic landscape. New technologies offer us new creative possibilities and allow us to explore uncharted territories. However, I believe it's important to maintain a balance between digital innovation and the preservation of artistic traditions. Art is intrinsically linked to human experience and emotion, and it's up to us artists to find meaningful ways to convey this through different expressive modes.

        Last Masterpiece

(Santa Maria della Lizza and its 300th anniversary since its arrival in Alezio)

Let's talk about your latest masterpiece, "Santa Maria della Lizza and the 300th Anniversary of its Arrival in Alezio." Can you explain the context of this work and its distinctive features?

Antonio Marzo: Of course! This work was created to mark the three-hundredth anniversary of the arrival of the Madonna della Lizza in Alezio, my hometown and the site of a sanctuary much loved and cherished by the community. I wanted to celebrate this significant event with a work of art that captures the spirituality and devotion surrounding this sanctuary. I used my personal technique, which involves using resin paints stirred onto natural forms such as old sacks, canvases, olive bark, and brushstrokes that my hand, I'm embarrassed to say, seems to drift by itself... The result is a work that reflects the beauty and essence of this sacred place.
